One of my (many) interests is... whisky. I have been interested in this particular drink since my trip to Scotland (naturally) in 2014, and while trying to get to know this intricate liquor better, I discovered Vilnius Whisky Festival, the biggest event for whisky lovers in the Baltic counties.
I came to VWF with very particular agenda. Since there were many distilleries participating in this event, I wanted to taste two most recent whiskeys from Glenfiddich (IPA Cask and Project XX), also do a little bit of tasting at Nikka whiskey stand, and last but far from the least, take a look at Mackmyra's production. All of this I managed to do, also having some additional tastings of some other brands.
Nevertheless, I am most happy about the fact that I managed to get into one of the tastings! We made to the last one of them, Glendalough whiskey tasting with Brendan Crowley. I have to admit that I am mostly acquainted with liquors from Scotland and Japan, so Irish whiskeys are still terra incognita for me, so this tasting was an incredibly pleasant experience!
Vilnius Whisky festival was a delightful discovery and I am sure that I'll be participating in it next year!
